Junk Removal South Park
Junk Removal in
South Park
A small, fiercely walkable enclave on Balboa Park's southeast edge (92102), built out a century ago with Craftsman and Victorian bungalows around the 30th-and-Beech village and Grape Street Park. Established families and creatives have held these homes for decades — so the work here is the garage-and-attic clear-out and the downsizing job: a careful carry-out of a period bungalow that has no basement to bury anything in. Flat photo-quoted price, we do all the lifting, and we protect the old doorways and floors on the way out.
Careful clear-outs of a century-old bungalow
South Park is one of San Diego's best-kept Craftsman pockets — tidy 1910s–20s bungalows and a few grand Victorians on leafy, sloping streets, with the little 30th-and-Beech business village and Grape Street Park at its heart. The people here tend to stay: original owners, second-generation families, and artists and makers who bought in years ago. That longevity is exactly what drives the junk work. When someone finally clears the garage, empties the attic, or downsizes a home they have lived in for thirty years, there is a lifetime of accumulation to move — and because these homes were built with no basement, all of it stacked up in the one-car garage, the attic crawl, the back porch, and the spare room.
Period homes make the carry the hard part, not the hauling. Doorways are narrow, hallways turn, porch steps are steep, and there is rarely a driveway to back a truck into — just street parking on a hill. That is the reason a lot of people put the job off. We plan the carry-out around all of it: we pad the door casings, protect the original floors, take doors off hinges when a dresser or an upright piano needs it, and bring the pieces down carefully rather than dragging them. None of that changes your price. You send a photo, you get a flat number that already includes the labor, the careful carry, the truck, and the disposal, and that is what you pay — no walkthrough, no hourly meter, no day-of upcharge for a tight period house.
What we carry out of South Park
- Garage & attic cleanouts — the signature South Park job: decades of boxes, tools, holiday bins, and old furniture pulled from the one-car garage and the attic crawl, truck-fill priced.
- Downsizing & estate clear-outs — a full bungalow's worth of furniture, china, and keepsakes when a long-held home is sold or settled, room by room, donation-routed.
- Single heavy pieces — a sofa, a china cabinet, a dresser, an upright piano, carried down the porch steps and out the narrow door.
- Appliances — old fridges, washers, dryers, and window AC units, with refrigerant recovered where the law requires it.
- Renovation leftovers — the cabinets, fixtures, and debris a bungalow remodel leaves behind.

Does San Diego pick up bulky junk in South Park?
Barely — and this is the part most South Park homeowners are surprised by. For roughly a century the City of San Diego collected trash and any bulky items only from single-family homes with city-street access under the old People's Ordinance; apartments and condos were excluded entirely. Measure B (2022) began repealing that, but even now the city does not run a robust on-demand bulky pickup — eligible houses get a limited, appointment-only option and residents are otherwise pointed to self-haul or community cleanups. For a garage full of furniture, an attic of boxes, or an upright piano, that thin municipal option does not do the job, and it never touches the courtyard apartments mixed in around the village. (You can confirm the current single-family allowance with the city's Environmental Services Department at 858-694-7000.)
That is the gap we fill. We show up on your schedule, carry everything out of the garage, attic, or house ourselves, and haul it in one flat-priced trip. Usable furniture is routed to donation — Goodwill of San Diego, the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and Father Joe's Villages — mattresses go to free Bye Bye Mattress recycling at Miramar, and TVs and electronics to free California e-waste, so a bungalow clear-out is handled honestly rather than just dumped.
What South Park customers say
"Thirty years of the garage and the attic in our bungalow off Beech — tools, boxes, an old workbench, the works. They carried it all down the porch steps without touching the door frames and gave me one flat price from photos. Broom-clean by afternoon."
"Downsizing my mom's home of a lifetime near Grape Street Park. Emotional, heavy job — they were patient, donation-routed the good furniture, and got the upright piano out the narrow front door. Fair flat price, no surprises."
"Remodeled the back of our Craftsman and had a pile of old cabinets, a claw-foot tub, and debris. No driveway, street parking only, and it still didn't cost extra. Booked it from a photo, gone the same day."
