Three lanes along Adams Avenue

Normal Heights, Kensington, and Talmadge run together along Adams Avenue, San Diego's Antique Row, home of the Adams Ave Street Fair and one of the best-preserved bungalow belts in the city. It is a mix of long-tenured homeowners in tidy Craftsman and Spanish-revival houses, renters in the older Adams Ave apartments, and — up in Kensington's palm-lined, neon-signed village — larger, pricier estates. That mix is why our work here splits three ways, though all of it shares the same San Diego reality: no basements, so the garage, the attic, and the closet are where everything lives.

Bungalow garage & attic cleanouts

The signature Normal Heights job. When a homeowner finally clears the one-car garage or empties the attic, there is a decade or three of tools, boxes, holiday bins, and old furniture to move. We pull all of it, sort donation from disposal, and price the whole thing as truck-fill — no need for you to lift or stage a thing at the curb.

Adams Avenue apartment turnover

The 1920s apartment buildings along Adams and the side streets cycle tenants steadily. Every move-out leaves the same heavy leftovers — a mattress, a couch, a busted dresser, a mini-fridge — and we clear the whole unit so it re-rents, carried down the stairs with no elevator required and no stair surcharge, usually the same day.

Kensington estate downsizing

Kensington's larger homes are prime downsizing and estate territory. We clear the full house carefully, protect the original floors and trim, donation-route the usable furniture with a tax receipt, and leave it broom-clean — one flat price, no hourly meter, discreet on your timeline.

What we haul on the Adams Ave belt

  • Garage & attic cleanouts — decades of boxes, tools, and old furniture from the bungalow's one-car garage and attic crawl, truck-fill priced.
  • Apartment move-out turnover — mattress, couch, and leftovers cleared so an Adams Ave unit re-rents.
  • Estate & downsizing clear-outs — full Kensington homes, donation-routed with tax receipts, broom-clean.
  • Single heavy pieces — a sofa, a dresser, a china cabinet, a refrigerator, carried out of a bungalow or a walk-up.
  • Appliances — fridges, washers, dryers, and window AC units, with refrigerant recovered where required.

Normal Heights & Kensington pricing

The city's bulky pickup won't cover it

Here is the disposal reality along Adams Avenue. For about a century the City of San Diego collected bulky items only from single-family homes with street access under the People's Ordinance — the 1920s apartments here got nothing municipal. Measure B (2022) began repealing that, but the city still does not run a robust on-demand bulky pickup: eligible houses get a limited, appointment-only option, and residents are otherwise pointed to self-haul. For a full garage cleanout, an apartment move-out, or a Kensington estate, that thin option does not do the job. (Confirm the current single-family allowance with the city's Environmental Services Department at 858-694-7000.)

We fill that gap on your schedule — full-service, carried out of the garage, the unit, or the home, in one flat-priced trip. Usable furniture goes to Goodwill, the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and Father Joe's Villages; mattresses to free Bye Bye Mattress recycling at Miramar; TVs and electronics to free California e-waste. Handled honestly, not just dumped at the curb.
