Pricing
How is my price calculated?
You upload or text a photo, each item is identified and priced from the published San Diego catalog, and you see one total before booking. Missed something in the picture? Send another photo and the quote updates.
What is the smallest job you’ll take?
The minimum order is $75. One sofa ($126) or one twin mattress ($82) is enough on its own.
Do stairs or elevators change the price?
No. A couch on the ground floor and one on the fifth floor of a walk-up cost the same.
Does booking for today cost more?
No. There’s no same-day surcharge; the price is the same whichever day you choose.
How does truck-fill pricing work?
For large jobs we price by the share of our 16-cubic-yard truck you fill, from $241 for a quarter to $732 for the whole truck. The quote compares that with item-by-item pricing and uses the lower number.
Is there sales tax?
No. California sales tax covers goods, and junk removal is a service.
Booking and Pickup Day
How quickly can a crew get here?
Often the same day or the next, depending on where you are and how big the job is. You pick from open windows on the quote page.
Does someone have to be home?
No. Plenty of customers leave items in an open garage or share a door or gate code, then get photos when it’s done.
Who does the actual hauling?
Insured, vetted local crews who work through JunkRabbit. You book and pay through us; they bring the truck and do the lifting.
Can you handle my building’s insurance certificate?
Yes. Forward the requirements from management and the certificate is sent before your pickup, along with the elevator reservation you’ve booked.
Can you work around a military move?
Yes. Tell us your inspection or report date and we schedule before it. On-base pickups need you to sponsor the crew through the gate, so allow extra lead time.
What We Take
Will you haul old paint or a propane tank?
We do. Paint is $30 per gallon can or $52 per five-gallon bucket, and a standard 20-pound grill tank is $33. They’re priced separately because they’re handled separately.
Do you haul yard waste and brush?
Yes. Yard waste is $88 per cubic yard, handy for clearing brush on canyon-edge lots before fire season.
What happens to everything you take?
Usable furniture goes to charity first, mattresses to California’s recycling program, appliances to refrigerant recovery and metal recycling, electronics to e-waste recyclers, and whatever remains to permitted disposal sites.
Will you haul a hot tub, piano or pool table?
We will. Hot tubs are $322, upright pianos $290, and pool tables $603; the extra hands these take are built into the price.
San Diego Rules and Service Area
Why won’t the City pick up my couch?
The City of San Diego’s bulky-item collection is paused until further notice. Its trash service, which homeowners have paid a fee for since July 1, 2025, covers carts only.
Can I leave furniture on the curb for someone to take?
Not legally. The municipal code only allows waste at the curb from 6 p.m. the evening before your collection day until 6 p.m. that day, and Downtown’s window is 6 to 10 a.m.
I live in Chula Vista or Oceanside. What are my options?
Each incorporated city has its own trash contract and bulky-item policy, so check with your hauler first. When their program doesn’t fit the job, we cover every city in the county at the same prices.
Which areas do you serve?
All of San Diego County, from the border to Camp Pendleton and out to East County. Distant backcountry towns are scheduled when a crew’s route reaches them. See the full area list.
