Clairemont & Bay Park
Garage Cleanout in
Clairemont & Bay Park
Clear a multi-decade single-car or two-car garage in one same-day truck-fill. In San Diego's first postwar suburb (92117/92111) the homes have no basements, so the garage holds forty and fifty years of everything — and that's exactly the packed, one-weekend-won't-do-it job we clear. We load it all straight from the garage, sort donation from disposal, and price it as one flat truck-fill from a photo. From $241. No CA sales tax on the service.
How a Clairemont garage cleanout works
1 · Send a photo
Snap the garage — both bays, the packed shelves, the corner you can't reach. You get a flat truck-fill price back in seconds, no in-home walkthrough.
2 · Pick a window
Choose a time — same-day is often open across Clairemont and Bay Park. Point out anything that's staying; everything else is fair game.
3 · We clear it out
A vetted, insured crew empties the bay, sorts donation from recycling from disposal, recovers freon on any old fridge, and sweeps up. You park in your garage again.
How much does a garage cleanout cost in Clairemont?
Garages price as flat truck-fill — you pay for the share of the truck your stuff actually fills, quoted from a photo before anyone drives. The labor, the load-out, the drive and the disposal are already in it. For comparison, national cost guides put a traditional full-service junk-removal truck-fill at roughly $550–$850+ after a minimum and an on-site estimate; ours is a flat photo number with donation and freon routing included and no CA sales tax.
| How full the truck | Flat price |
|---|---|
| Quarter load — a corner clear-out | $241 |
| Light single-car garage | $338 |
| Half a two-car garage | $431 |
| Packed single-car garage | $513 |
| Light two-car garage | $587 |
| Packed two-car garage | $661 |
| Full two-car garage / estate clear | $732 |
$75 minimum. Disposal included; usable furniture donated, appliances refrigerant-recovered where required, metal and e-waste recycled. Single items price flat too — a fridge is $164, a washer $133, a treadmill $115. No CA sales tax on the service — the flat price is all-in.
What comes out of a Clairemont garage
Clairemont and Bay Park were San Diego's first master-planned postwar suburb — thousands of single-story 1950s and 60s homes on the mesas and canyon rims above Mission Bay, a lot of them still lived in by the families who bought them new. With no basement and often only a single-car garage, that one bay absorbed a whole life's worth of storage. When we clear one, it's usually some mix of:
- Furniture & boxes — the spare sofa, the old dresser, stacked moving boxes and bins that never got unpacked.
- Tools & workbench — decades of hand and power tools, hardware, lumber offcuts and the workbench itself.
- Beach, camping & sports gear — surfboards, tents, coolers, bikes, a rusted-out grill and patio set.
- Appliances — the dead second fridge, a chest freezer, an old washer and dryer, a window AC (freon recovered).
- Paint, chemicals & yard gear — half-used cans, a mower, and the canyon-lot green waste that migrated into the garage.
We load from the garage — you carry nothing
The reason a packed garage sits for years is that it's a genuinely overwhelming job to face alone: there's nowhere to stage it, no basement to shuffle it into, and a lot of it is heavy. So we don't ask you to pre-sort or drag anything to the curb. Our crew works straight out of the bay — pulling furniture, boxes, tools and appliances across the driveway and onto the truck, keeping the walk path clear, and protecting the door frame and any finished floor on the way through. You point out what stays; we take the rest. It's the opposite of a curbside service, and it's exactly what a multi-decade Clairemont garage needs.
Will the city clear my garage?
A lot of long-time Clairemont owners assume the city will come get the big stuff. It mostly won't. Under San Diego's century-old People's Ordinance and the newer Measure B rollout (2022, phasing in a fee through 2025–2026), even an eligible single-family home gets only a limited, appointment-only bulky option — nothing that will empty a fifty-year garage on your schedule — and apartments and condos get no municipal pickup at all. The city itself points residents to WasteFreeSD or self-haul rather than an on-demand truck; you can confirm your eligibility with Environmental Services at 858-694-7000. For a real garage cleanout, waiting on the city isn't a plan. Full-service is: we carry everything out of the bay, load it, and hand you one flat price scheduled around you, often same-day.
Where it all goes
A garage cleanout is only fair if it's done honestly, so we route everything to the right place instead of just dumping it. Usable furniture and goods go to Goodwill of San Diego, the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul / Father Joe's Villages and Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Mattresses go to free Bye Bye Mattress recycling at the Miramar collection site. TVs, monitors and computers — banned from California trash — go to free e-waste recycling. Paint, chemicals and batteries go to the Miramar HHW facility, and fridges, freezers and AC get EPA-certified refrigerant recovery. Scrap metal is recycled. Only the true remainder is disposed at the Miramar Landfill — and because San Diego's disposal is moderate with no add-on refuse tax, doing it right keeps your flat price fair.
When Clairemont calls for a garage cleanout
- Aging in place — clearing decades out of the bay so an original owner can park, or make room for a caregiver or a project.
- Downsizing — paring down before a move to a smaller place or out of the area.
- Selling the house — a broom-clean garage (and often the whole home) before it goes on the market.
- Estate settlement — clearing a parent's mid-century home for the family and the sale, discreetly.
- Reclaiming the space — turning a storage bay back into a workshop, a gym, or a spot for the car.
Why Clairemont chooses JunkRabbit
- Flat truck-fill from a photo — the number you see is the number you pay; no on-site estimate, no CA sales tax.
- Loaded from the garage — full-service, not curbside; you don't sort, stage or carry anything.
- Freon & recycling handled — certified refrigerant recovery, e-waste, metal and mattress recycling, all in the price.
- Donation-routed — usable pieces go to San Diego charities with a receipt where you want one.
- Same-day when a slot's open, done in a single visit.
What Clairemont customers say
"Forty-plus years in the same Clairemont house and the garage had all of it — no basement, so it just piled up. They cleared both bays in one afternoon, loaded straight from the garage, donated what was still good. One fair flat price from a couple of photos. We can park in there again."
"Selling my dad's mid-century place off Clairemont Mesa Blvd. They cleared the packed garage and the house, took the old fridge with the freon and all, and were respectful the whole time. Made a hard month a lot easier."
"Single-car garage in Bay Park, packed to the door with tools, camping gear and yard junk off the canyon lot. Booked it from a photo, flat truck-fill price, gone same day. I didn't lift a thing."
